21 to 25 April 2008 - 76th IASC World Congress, Shanghai, China - CANCELLED

January 2008

Dear Friends and Colleagues

It is with regret that I write to inform you that the membership of the IASC has agreed by majority decision to dissolve the IASC in its current form as of 31 December 2007.

In view of this it has been necessary to cancel the IASC Congress, which had been planned to take place in Shanghai 21st to 25th April this year.  I am sure this will be disappointing news to the many of you who had planned to attend, but these circumstances have left us with no option.  We extend our apologies and sincere thanks to the China National Vegetable Oil Association and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade who had jointly worked so hard on the preliminary organisation of this congress.  I am, however, pleased to report that the CNVOA and CCPIT are proceeding independently with their own plans to organise a World Congress of Seed Crushers under the working title “China International Oil Fat and Plants Congress” tentatively scheduled for October 2008 in Nanjing.  I am sure you will look forward to this event as an opportunity to continue the tradition of great international seed crushers’ congresses.

May I take this opportunity to thank you all for your support of the IASC during its long and distinguished history.  I wish you all health and prosperity in the future and look forward to seeing you in China later this year.

Kind regards

Yours sincerely

ROBERT BROESKA
PRESIDENT
